For the deeper dive proect, I’m creating a 5-10 minute video showcasing a raw week in my life as an internet personality, focusing on strong emotions and storytelling. While I extensive video editing experience, this longer format is new to me. My primary goal is to enhance my overall videography in a horizontal long form format, increasing my color grading skills and flow.
Key Steps
Research + Inspiration: Studying creators like Sam Zhia (3m Followers), Luca (10m followers), Togi (2m followers).
Filming my life: I plan to showcase a raw day to day sense of my life, showing how I think out everything and set goals, as well as achieve goals and break through problems with critical thinking.
Improvment of Color Grading: Sharing drafts with my pod for critique and refining based on their insights.
Final Editing and Submission: Polishing the video before submission, and editing the video to make everything fit in well. My plan is to make a crisp video showing the reality of my work and the struggles and difficulties that come with it.
Collaboration and Reflection
Our pod meets regularly via video chat to exchange feedback and improve our editing. Through this process, I’ve gained insights into storytelling, pacing, and color grading. I’m excited to share my final video soon!
Deeper Dive Project Update #2
I have started production, and am around 60% through my video so I am going to take all of you through what I have learned so far!
The LA trip
I initially had a plan to fly out to Miami Florida to complete a marathon and meet some of my famous friends! However last minute I got an invitation from my friend Caden Teneycke to fly out to LA for an event and to meet with some creators, so I dropped the marathon and booked the tickets.
Our first couple of days we met with some of our friends at Zoo Culture, Caden had a meeting with TikTok so one of the days I went out on my own. The biggest reason I flew out was for a creators night, I had no idea who was going to be there and had 0 expectation for anything. It was on the second night of our trip so I booked the $200 uber and went off to it with Caden.
Initially I got egoed at the front door until they found out who we were, this was a crazy experience but to be honest in LA it happens so often. Inside I saw some huge creators, I met Sean Magic (40m followers) and many other huge creators. Most importantly being Hayden, who is Mr Beasts editor. Quite literally the worlds best editor. So who better to learn how to edit from than him for this project, I had the opportunity to sit down with him after the event for pizza and he was going on about creating curiosity which I never thought to do. I always knew hooks, but what about a hook that can spark two different types of endings, or even hundreds of different endings. He stated that’s what you want to do with story telling and editing, being giving a broad hook (for example mine being a raw reality of my week) and narrowing it down to different possibilities that can build curiosity (My goals, will I achieve them or not).

The Filming + Editing
I have probably spent around 10-15 hours editing and filming this, I am nowhere near done and have took tips from previous friends aswell as some youtube videos. I have added sound effects, stuff one screen, and the overall layout as well as the music. The video is reaching 5 minutes.
In the coming weeks I am planning to add timelines, stating each day and my goals acheived as well as events happening. There is still a lot for me to do but the overall project is coming along and recently I even used this to help me edit and post my very first long form video to YouTube.

I am very happy with how it’s turning out although I still have a lot of editing to do as well as finishing the conclusion.
Deeper Dive Update #4
I did a lot of editing on this project probably close to 17 hours now, this involved downloading the editor I used being cap cut and it was my first ever time using this on my computer.
I learned a lot about keeping retention and multiple camera angles, but also near the end of it I learned that it isn’t always about that and sometimes it is about raw emotion and unedited videos. I came to the realization of this when I watched Stable Ronaldos raw video of his journey. The video has a lot of views, yet there are no fast edits, 3 different camera angles or sound effects. It’s cause its a raw point where people can connect with him, its true authenticity.
However, you can’t just post something that’s raw and authentic like that and get views. I learned from Mr Beasts editor that what you do is immediatly hook the audience at the start by hammering them with stuff about the video and going crazy. But near the end you can tone it down as if someones already 40-50% through a video they are going to finish that video. That being said, that ending 50-60% where you show a more raw authentic version of you is the part where it allows you to connect with your audience and build connection. Say 30% stay till there and build that connection with you, they’re going to watch your next video and it starts to compound.
Meeting with Davyn
I met with Davyn a member in the class multiple times, and we really got along he even helped me film one of my TikTok videos. He looked over my DEEP DIVE project and gave me some idea that the flow was a bit messed up so i fixed it by adding these.

This gave my Deep Dive more guideline and really helped put it all together.
